My children’s stories are about the kitties and Keller Farms, primarily Mikey and Greta. There mom died when her litter of 9 were a week old! I was remiss in taking care of them and lost all but two, Mikey (a white with grey and gigantic ears!) and Greta, a pearl grey. I write them as they really are. Mikey goes about with abandon, suffering various consequences after the fact. He’s a pistol and a lover….and a bit of a brat. He has grown somewhat into his giant ears but they are still bigger than the average kitty.
Greta, on the other hand, is cautious, more reserved and the smartest kitty I’ve ever had or experienced! She comes into the kitchen and opens the cabinet doors…puts her paws up on the top and takes tiny steps backwards until the door is open. I have since heard others tell me they had a cat that did the same thing but this is my first! She also tries to open the drawers but cannot. Greta is small and a bit on the fat side…can’t jump up on high places and I think she opens the cabinet doors to find a ladder up to the counters!
Greta is also very curious. Wants to know what everything is and what everything does. She even makes the mew noise that sounds like a question. My husband says if Greta could talk, she would be going around saying, “Why? Why? Why?”
